Now What? Permit Test Copy

Almost There!

Congratulations! You are ALMOST finished your classroom education! The rest of this lesson will wrap up with all the information you need to proceed to the next step.

Permit Test Prep

The permit test you’re going to take will test what you’ve learned in this course. It may test you on any of the following subjects:

  • road signs
  • driving in bad weather
  • driving around emergency vehicles
  • safety precautions
  • car maintenance
  • what to do in a crash
  • the organ donor program
  • railroad safety
  • traffic signals
  • right-of-way
  • driving in different locations

Going to The BMV

You will need proofs of identification to get your permit from the BMV. This shows the BMV that you are who you say you are.

You will need to provide the BMV with the following:

  • proof of your social security number
  • proof of your identity such as a birth certificate
  • proof of your U.S. Citizenship
  • two documents proving your Indiana residency

The BMV can provide you with the most up-to-date acceptable documents in each of these categories.

Secure ID

The SecureID program was launched to help prevent extensive theft and fraud. Much more identification is needed to receive a SecureID than it is to receive a regular credential.

A complete list of necessary documentation can be obtained through the BMV.
