After your are done with behind-the-wheel practice, you will be ready for your driving skills test.
If you are not taking your skills test with a driving school, you will need to schedule with the BMV.
You must provide your own vehicle for the driving skills exam. Be sure you know where all controls on your vehicle are and how they work.
Only the BMV skills test examiner or other authorized BMV personnel is allowed in the vehicle during the exam.
The BMV examiner will ask a few required questions before you begin your driving skills exam. Use this time to ask any questions you might have. Do not wait until the test has begun. The examiner’s job is to test your ability to drive safely, not to provide you with instructions on how to do so.
After you have completed the test and have parked the vehicle, the examiner will discuss the results with you. The examiner will provide an explanation of any driving errors you may have made and how to correct them.
If you fail a driving skills exam, you must wait 14 days before retaking the test.
If you fail three times, you must wait two months before retaking the test.
However, don’t worry too much about the test. Pay attention during your behind-the-wheel sessions, and you’ll be fine!
Once you get your operational license, it will be good for six years.
